Erin started her investigation practice in 2008 She is licensed through the Oregon Public Safety Standards and Training. She focuses most of her work on criminal defense. Erin has worked hundreds of private, state and federal cases that vary from DUII, Domestic Violence, Restraining Orders, Assault, Measure II, Sex Abuse, Rape, Robbery, Fraud, Drug Possession, Juvenile work, Dependency, Post Conviction Relief, Murder and Aggravated Murder.
Erin started out as a legal assistant in the misdemeanor section at MPD. This position consisted of non-stop interaction with attorneys, defendants, jail staff and parole/probation officers. Erin conducted jail visits with her clients within 24 hours of their arrest. After several several months, Erin was promoted to be the civil commitment legal assistant/investigator.
Erin traveled to all of the psychiatric wards in the Portland area to prepare clients for their civil commitment hearings. Erin developed extreme patience and terrific interview skills while assisting some of the most demanding mentally ill patients in the Portland area. Erin would also locate vital witnesses for the court hearings with a limited time frame.
Multnomah County Department of Community Justice
Fresh out of college, Erin gained employment at Multnomah County Department of Community Justice with the Pretrial Services Program. She conducted investigations on defendants who were in custody prior to the completion of their criminal case. Erin interviewed the "alleged victim", parole/probation officers, family and community members and also reviewed police reports and criminal records to determine if the defendant should be released from jail. Erin supervised a case load of defendants and made "release decisions". Erin spent much of her time conducting " intake interviews" and explaining the rules of the program to the clients.
While employed at PSP, Erin also worked in the Multnomah County Community Court Program. She would check up on defendants and remind them of their court dates and refer them to the appropriate community service program to fulfill their sentence.
After a year at PSP, Erin transferred over to the Day Reporting Center, which is a program within the parole and probation department. Erin conducted intake interviews and explained the rules of the program to the at risk "offenders" who were sanctioned to the Day Reporting Center. Many of these clients were struggling with serious drug, mental health and homelessness problems.
Portland State University
Erin graduated in 2005 from Portland State University. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice and Criminology. While attending school, Erin interned for 9 months at the Multnomah County Parole and Probation department. She worked in the sex offender unit and learned how the probation department works.
